I'm sure many people have come up with their own theories about the origins of the Reapers, and this page is no different. My own theory is based on the Derelict Reaper and the Reaper IFF mission. The Reaper has been physically dead for 37 million years with the only activity being its mass effect core, yet was still able to indoctrinate the Cerberus researchers inside of it. It may sound crazy, but I believe that the Reapers are element zero, forming the mind of the machines while the body, created from the goo of sentient organics, is meant to amplify the Reapers' power. The only reason that the element zero isn't indoctrinating the crews of non-Reaper ships is because the ships themselves obviously don't come close to the specifications of the Reapers.
