I've been debating myself in a philosophical quest to figure out the best ending to ME3, morally & plotwise. I've always liked the synthesis ending except for Shepherd death. I always would go with the destroy ending to make sure the Reapers were gone and because Shepherd survives or is implied to survive. However it always kills me that EDI and the geth do not survive that ending. Seeing as though my playthrough of ME3 has the Quarians and Geth making peace with one another and getting EDI to understand humanity better as well as pushing her and Joker together, it just feels like such a loss to lose all of them. I also have a soft spot for synthetic life, I feel it is just as valid as organic. Also as EDI was one of my favorite characters I hate to see her go. But as the Catalyst says those who survive will have little difficulty repairing the damage, and that with Hacketts epilogue you pretty much have the species working together to repair everything, the relays, the citadel, etc. Why couldn't they simply just repair the damage done to EDI? Same thing with the geth, well that is if the Quarians wanted them, but seeing as now they're all like Legion with true intelligence it would seem a sin and huge loss to lose them. Do you think they can just be fixed? Or are they....er...more importantly....is SHE gone for good? I truly love seeing EDI in the synthesis ending showing emotion and pretty much crying and uttering that she is alive, though I feel like Javik would be in a living hell, as he hates synthetics and now is part one, same w/ Ash. I just can't stand to see her go. I suppose that is why the Paragon ending is control and Renegade is destroy. With control nobody dies, nobody is changed at the molecular level. Geth, EDI, organics all remain exactly the same. It is just the Reapers who change. With destroy you essentially commit Geth genocide and kill EDI, and synthesis, while saving everyone is neutral because of the forced change to everybody. Anyways, I am off-track here as usual. What do you think? Can EDI be repaired? Or would they be able to turn her back on but it wouldnt be EDI but another sentient program in her place with her information?
