Shadow Broker and Cerberus in Mass Effect

So what happened with the sale (or refusal to sell) the info on Cerberus to the Shadow Broker in Mass Effect? Does it affect, say, anything in Lair of the Shadow Broker? It seems not. What then? Now the new Shadow Broker is... not the same as the old one... so, will it likely turn out to be inconsequential? Or regardless, what happened with that ME choice? Thoughts?
