Ever since I first completed Eden Prime, Mass Effect has been my favorite video game series. I have always been a gamer, ever since the age of 4-5 I have been completing video games such as Spyro, Sonic, Crash Bandicoot, etc, and ever since 5-6 I started paying attention to the plot of the video games in question. Of course, the stories behind these games was just wrapped around the cartoon-y, platform-y, gameplay, but I enjoyed them nonetheless. But it wasn't until I played The Secret of Monkey Island (I think I was 6) that I really started to concentrate on plot and structured story. During my years of gaming I noticed something- most games (not all) with great plots had terrible gameplay, and vice versa. I also noticed that coincidentally, all my favorite video games were the few that actually managed to keep a balance of plot and gameplay. In my more recent years of gaming my favorite games have been GTA IV, the Assassin's Creed series, and The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion. However, none of these games pulled me in like Mass Effect did. I admit, for the first 5 minutes of the game, I thought: "Oh God, more generic sci-fi crap." but as soon as Connor (which is my name) Shepard, Earthborn, War Hero Infiltrator, touched the beacon on Eden Prime. I couldn't stop playing Mass Effect, or talking about Mass Effect, or thinking about Mass Effect.
