The Lost Song

Outlaws are poaching the yevara, a native species cherished by the angara. Tracking down these poachers would win favour with the angara on Voeld.

Acquisition

This mission can be acquired from the angaran biologist on the ice floe outside Techiix.

The mission falls under Heleus Assignments > Voeld.

Walkthrough

If Jaal is not a member of the team when Pathfinder Ryder acquires the mission, he will ask to go with them over the comm - the Forward Station called outside Techiix can be used to do so.

There are two initial locations on the world map - north-east and north-west of Techiix respectively. Both will be small portable shelters, already abandoned by the poachers. After the first camp is found, Jaal will comment that the poachers must be following the yevara.

The second camp contains a datapad, with the following message:

Message for Grel Grel, We had to pack up and follow the fish. They're actually pretty smart to keep on the move like this. Just use the signal to find us. Vann speared a little one–I think it was a calf–and the rest of them went berserk. Nearly drowned her. She'll get hypothermia at this rate, so we sent her back to the medbay. Means we're a hand short, so get here as quick as you can. -Arvis

Once both camps have been explored, a final waypoint appears east of Eroesk, where a cave is located. After taking out a camp of raiders outside the cave entrance, then a further squad dug in inside, Ryder and the team follow a path mined through the ice to a final cavern, where an angaran doctor, Dr. Lekaaret is waiting for them.

Lekaaret explains that the yevara appear to contain enzymes which could counteract the effect of kett weapons, and is capturing them to find out. Jaal is horrified, which leads Lekaaret to note that the angaran preference for tradition blinds them to the possibility, although the doctor thinks that - if she is allowed to continue with her research - they will eventually accept her work.

It is for Ryder to decide whether to allow the research to continue; Jaal stating that he cannot make the choice.

If Ryder decides not to allow the research to continue, they will instruct SAM to transmit information on Lekaaret's actions to the Angaran Resistance, and advise the angaran to get off the planet while she can.
