Marauder Shields[]

Just for the record, i still think Marauder Shields should be mentioned. He is the greatest hero in the Mass Effect trilogy. Note: For those who does not know who he is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uNoIwHychkY

Definitely. This guy is the final enemy that is fought in Mass Effect 3, by definition that makes him the Final Boss of not only Mass Effect 3 but the entire trilogy - and he certainly has plenty of support. Just Google search him if you don't believe me.

GaryGibbon 19:30, March 15, 2012 (UTC) Marauder Shields should have a separate page, all of his own, to commemorate his noble sacrifice.

I have been able to get one-hit kills on Marauders with head shots with the M-77 Paladin heavy pistol combined with certain weapon mods (high caliber barrel), Disruptor Ammo and Adrenaline Rush, too. On normal difficulty, it should be said. Thought I'd mention that as a possible tactic. --Shepard Drake Marston 22:57, March 15, 2012 (UTC)

He is already a legend so why not make one page for him.Final boss, catchy name and all that.

Marauder Shields should not be forgotten... I saw there was a page for him and it was deleted, please stop. We need a memorial for Marauder Shields.

If you want a memorial, create a website dedicated to him. Or a blog about him here on the wiki. Or a forum post about him here on the wiki. Or something on the BioWare Social Network. Pretty much the only thing we ask people not to do is create an article about "Marauder Shields", since virtually everything that has been included in such articles is essentially fan fiction. SpartHawg948 08:38, March 16, 2012 (UTC)

The circumstances surrounding his life are indeed left to imagination and are a cause of endless speculation. However you cannot deny the existance of Marauder Shields nor his status as final boss of the Mass Effect Trilogy. That's just petty and shows disrespect for him. This is a serious wiki, and the articles should be objective, so don't let your own opinions cloud the name of Marauder Shields.

On the contrary, I can and indeed do deny the notion that "Marauder Shields" is the final boss. Were it so, you'd figure he'd have been gifted with a name, and wouldn't need to have fans slap one together for him. And, as he shows Shepard no respect, I see no need to show him any respect. :P
Seriously though, while articles should indeed be subjective, they should also be factual and accurate to the series. Fan-created nonsense doesn't count. Again, anyone who wants to is more than welcome to create a forum page or blog dedicated to Marauder Shields. Just not an article. And, if he's as popular and powerful as you claim, wouldn't he really be better off with his own website? SpartHawg948 09:14, March 16, 2012 (UTC)

Good point about adding him to trivia on Marauder page or somewhere else, like final boss, fan fiction etc. And people, please stop adding Marauder Shields page, it's vandalism and it's getting you nowhere.

_______________

He should at least be added to the trivia section. He's in the game and is notable for his name, the meme just spun out of that. Fair enough those in charge of the wiki don't appreciate any tongue in cheek elements to it, but he does exist and is worth mentioning. It should ideally mention that he's the last enemy you face, the origin of his name and the fact that he's become popular with a section of the fanbase and has a meme created around him. Those are legitimately worth noting.

Also in a way he is arguably the last boss in the game by default. There is no real last boss, but he is the last enemy you face in the game, the fact that he's a bit above a grunt doesn't really count against since there's no rule that can't happen. Plus the shift in gameplay mechanics isn't uncommon to final boss fights and it gives him and the handful of Husks preceding him an unwitting importance due to the sudden shift and the lack of other enemies or bosses.

Marauder Sheilds - remember him, he only wanted to protect you from the heartache. --86.173.113.152 07:22, March 17, 2012 (UTC)

Don't be surprised if you get shot down for this, but I do agree he should be mentioned. If anyone disagrees, they should also go and argue against the mention of the "Shepard. Wrex." meme on Wrex's page. TheWarmaster 12:38, March 23, 2012 (UTC)
Marauder shields is not mentioned in the article. It has became a popular meme with some fans. It is as notable as any other memes arising from the Mass effect series. To be consistant, I suggest it should be either added to the article (regardless of personal opinions of anyone, including the wiki staff or admins, because that would be biased) or any and all other references to popular memes in the fanbase should be removed from this wiki.

Any mention of Marauder shields in this article should not have any speculation or 'facts' added (e.g. no mention of him being the last boss, or being powerful) but should simply indicate that it is a meme. I would suggest only one or two sentences should be added about this.--Pigachu 19:08, March 29, 2012 (UTC)

I don't know if it's worth noting, but the suicidal huntress in Huerta Memorial mentions that their guns cannot be used when picked up. I only thought this to be interesting because it is stated clearly that they use Phaeston rifles. --Lofaszjoska 19:43, April 5, 2012 (UTC)

Resurrecting?[]

I've never seen a Marauder resurrect anything - is that a feature that never made in or something? - von Boomslang 08:37, April 12, 2012 (UTC)

Most likely. Pre-release materials indicates that's what he was supposed to do.

We only accept info from the final game. Don't include pre-released information. — Teugene (Talk)

Speaking of which, I've never seen Banshees give anyone barriers either.

Trivia[]

Note that any further additions of the "Marauder Shields" trivia will be removed on sight. The reason is this does not meet the guidelines for trivia on the site as it is fan-generated material, and that isn't permitted anywhere in the mainspace. If the issue is pressed, then further action will be taken. Lancer1289 20:01, April 12, 2012 (UTC)

Speaking of Trivia, Doesnt the Marauder look like Saren.--Stabber ApSig 23:58, April 21, 2012 (UTC)

Other than the fact that they're both turian, not really. Mr. Mittens 00:05, April 22, 2012 (UTC)
Why not? Memes are mentioned on other articles. I dont "follow" this meme or even see why it is humourous, but not mentioning it when other memes are is hypocritical and inconsistent. FeckThisShyt 16:11, April 26, 2012 (UTC)
If there are similar trivia on other articles, feel free to remove them. The Marauder Shields is annoying, redundant, unclear, and has no place on the mainspace. --silverstrike 16:38, April 26, 2012 (UTC)
Nah, if I edit anything Lancer will violate my anus (he doesnt like me I dont think :D). Though ultimately trivia is "Details, considerations, or pieces of information of little importance or value." and so there is no reason for memes not to be in there, unless the trivia section isnt actually a trivia section, in which case it should be renamed surely.
As an aside, I see you also have no idea how it is supposed to be funny. I mean it is a terrible final boss fight, but I dont see how that makes it funny. FeckThisShyt 22:35, April 26, 2012 (UTC)

Maybe this: mention that a marauder is the last enemy to be killed in combat gameplay (as opposed to conversation and cinematics, which would be TIM or the Reapers, depending on the ending), with absolutely no mention of the meme itself. On a different topic, should it be noted that marauders appear to still be wearing turian armor? As opposed to other husks, that are, for lack of a better term, naked. Cultfanatic 19:28, May 2, 2012 (UTC)

I don't really get the obsession with this. There is no mention that a geth is the last enemy encountered in Mass Effect or that a collector is the last enemy in Mass Effect 2. Why mention this? What is its relevance to the article? Why not mention on the husk article that the last three husks encountered in ME3 are the only ones in the entire series that walk in a strait line? --silverstrike 19:33, May 2, 2012 (UTC)
The people who add that are trying to make even the most minute of references to Marauder Shields, or their anger that there was no final boss. It's really not relevant. Mr. Mittens 19:47, May 2, 2012 (UTC)
^ That would about sum it up. It isn't relevant, it isn't trivia, and it will not end up in the article. Lancer1289 05:12, May 3, 2012 (UTC)
I see your point. But what about my other point? Cultfanatic 02:15, May 4, 2012 (UTC)

The lies, slander, and hatred directed toward Marauder Shields is downright sad. He's a hero, and deserves a hero's recognition!--Eden2012 (talk) 04:31, August 9, 2012 (UTC)

marauder shields is old meme. take your grievances/adulations elsewhere before somebody slaps you with a warning for policy violations. Old, meme? Your point is? The entire point of a meme is to live on for eternity. Besides, this isn't a meme, it's fact.--Eden2012 (talk) 05:04, August 9, 2012 (UTC)

Enough. This isn't the point of a talk page. This topic is long dead. Any further comments will not get it into the article so enough is enough. Cease commenting at this time. Lancer1289 (talk) 05:06, August 9, 2012 (UTC)

Combat Rolling[]

Because I don't want to start an edit war, I am opening a topic. I simply want to add the sentence "They are capable of rolling to dodge projectile attacks." to their Defensive Capabilities. Another user undid the edit because "I'm pretty sure that the admins do not consider this noteworthy enough." However:

  1. The admins aren't the only ones who decide what is "noteworthy."
  2. Similar information is present on other adversary pages, such as the Assault Trooper.
    Trandra 23:06, May 26, 2012 (UTC)
And that is pointing out the obvious. Everything and everyone in ME3, both single and multiplayer has some form of combat role. We have no need to point out the obvious. Lancer1289 23:17, May 26, 2012 (UTC)
However, here's a list of all enemies that do not have evasive moves: Brute, Ravager, Swarmer, Cannibal, Husk, Combat Drone, Geth Prime, Geth Turret, Atlas, Turret, Guardian. 92.12.213.153 23:23, May 26, 2012 (UTC)

How about this as a compromise, the above is a smaller list than who can dodge, how about making note of the ones who can't dodge instead? NOTE: just a suggestion and I don't particularly care if it happens or not.--Nintendogeek01 23:30, May 26, 2012 (UTC)

But here's why I simply cannot understand Lancer's argument: someone who hasn't played the game or is inexperienced may not be aware of the enemies that can and cannot evade your attacks, therefore this information is NOT obvious to them by any means. Just because information is common knowledge to experienced players doesn't mean it should not be included. And furthermore, looking at all the Krogan enemies in ME2, all their pages list their abilities of "Regeneration" and "Berserker Charge". By Lancer's logic, these should not be listed since all Krogan regenerate and charge you, so it is "obvious" info that does not need stating. Sorry, but that just makes no sense to me. If we were to not include correct information just because there are other articles where it applies, then we should not bother posting tactics for generic enemies like Troopers in ME2 and ME3, by the same logic that the info will be obvious. And further still, I don't know if I'm the only one with this opinion, but I believe if a piece of information is correct it has every right to be on an informative article regardless of whether it may be considered obvious. If this wiki only demands "useful" information, what is the point of all the articles on planets, listing all their stats; those statistics serve no use! A wiki is a source of information. So why should information not be included in these circumstances? I simply cannot understand Lancer's view here; to me, if information is correct, it should be included. And on plenty of articles already there is correct information which can be considered obvious. Am I getting my point across? Or is my entire argument going to be wasted or ignored? 92.12.213.153 13:16, May 27, 2012 (UTC)
Apparently so. Thanks a bunch, everyone. 92.12.213.153 17:04, June 2, 2012 (UTC)
Just like to say that whilst i agree that many articles relating to enemies (such as geth pyros, on which it says 'wields a flamethrower) do have obvious information, but it helps make the article flow by describing all of their physical characteristics. However, I agree that this should be included in the article at least under player tips, if not under defensive capabilities. I will say, though that I think it doesn't count as an ability.

SanjayBeast (talk) 18:26, June 2, 2012 (UTC)

I maintain that anything an enemy is capable of doing counts as an ability, which should be noted in their info-box, as this is a nice overview of said characters key traits which is often the first thing a new reader will look at on the page, rather than the wordy, detailed sections. But if nobody agrees with this, listing it in those sections shall suffice for me. 92.12.211.198 17:05, June 4, 2012 (UTC) (My IP address has changed)

Page Image.[]

The current image does look pretty cool, but can something be done about the second Marauder's body prtruding on the left? It distracts from the main image and I think that it should either be replaced completely or the protruding bit photoshopped out of the picture. 4Ferelden (talk) 10:37, October 17, 2012 (UTC)

That's a Cannibal. And I don't see an issue. --Kainzorus Prime Walkie-talkie 12:15, October 17, 2012 (UTC)
Concur. I don't see an issue. Lancer1289 (talk) 15:31, October 17, 2012 (UTC)

Organic?[]

In ME3 they do no seem to be just organic... just triggered fire explosions on one with a salarian engineer, which is supposed to only be possible on synthetic enemies (Energy Drain).

No, fire explosions are possible on all shielded enemies. However, once that shielding is gone, if the enemy is not synthetic, Energy Drain can no longer trigger any tech explosions on the target. Lksdjf (talk) 03:12, December 14, 2012 (UTC)

Possibly a dumb question..[]

So this may possibly be a dumb question, but it could also be a valid point so: Should it be mentioned anywhere in this article that Marauders, in groups, can quickly kill pretty much anyone.

After all, if one has had many Reaper Gold games in Multiplayer or played Single-Player, they may notice that Marauders are a lot deadlier in groups than they are in, for example, pairs. They all seem to co-ordinate and deal a LOT of damage, very quickly to the point where I was once playing a Geth Juggernaut, on Gold, Cyclonic Modulator IV and full Fitness (I know it's Advanced Hardware but let's face it, it' just a Geth Fitness.), I walked into a spawn of about 5 Marauders and they managed to down me in about 3 seconds of sustained fire.

Now I am probably blabbering but my point is this: Marauders are INCREDIBLY dangerous in groups, to the point where if you see more than 2 Marauders on the battlefield, you should probably go to cover and stay in cover. Should that be a major/minor piece in the article? TheRello99 (talk) 09:45, March 27, 2013 (UTC)

No. What enemy isn't this true for on Gold? Lksdjf (talk) 11:36, March 27, 2013 (UTC)
But it isn't just that. Marauders do a lot more damage than say, an Assault Trooper I ran both the Marauders and the Guardians through a statistic table, whose source is beyond me at the moment, but it calculated that while the Guardians have Talon XXVIs or something along those lines, Marauders have approximately Phaeston XXXXVs and that is on Normal difficulty.
