Space Monkey

From Mass Effect Wiki

It's a space monkey!
Space Monkeys are native to the planet Eletania. They live in small colonies of rough shelters scattered across the planet's surface, and appear to do little more than wander around in groups. The monkeys have no fear of Commander Shepard's squad, though they have the presence of mind to run when they hear gunfire. They also appear to be very curious about the Alliance probe that was recently shot down over Eletania and one of them has run off with the drone's data module.

Though they have a slightly synthetic appearance, the monkeys are organic creatures. In concept art, they are shown clinging to a tree branch, sticking out a finely-pointed tongue, suggesting that they usually eat small insects and grubs from the crevices in tree bark or amongst the mosses that form most of Eletania's flora.

The monkeys can be examined to check for Admiral Hackett's data module. Killing a monkey by any means gives you +4 Renegade points, after that you will receive no more Renegade points for killing other monkeys. Inside an abandoned mine on Eletania you will find the monkey who has the data module Admiral Hackett needs in a room at the end of the north-eastern tunnel of the mine.

This monkey can also be used to perform an infinite Paragon points glitch. For the purpose of obtaining the Dog of War Achievement, monkeys count as organic kills. One squad mate will often express his or her distaste for your action while the other commends it.
