An atmosphere similar to Earth's made Intai'sei an early candidate for human colonization. However, prohibitively high temperatures and an arid climate have proven a hindrance to terraforming and agriculture. A few human cities were founded, but the majority of the human population on Inta'sei remains scattered across the vast deserts, operating wind farms and geological research stations.

Intai'sei is discovered after Commander Shepard completes all missions aboard Pinnacle Station, and earns the assignment Pinnacle Station: Convoy. Shepard wins access to a private apartment on the surface with amenities such as a radio, grenade resupply locker and a medi-gel station.
It is highlighted on the Galaxy Map as "Shepard's Apartment".
