I have been playing around with Tech Armor to find a suitable way to play.

While in the single player campaign it is pretty easy to counterbalance the burdening effect of the tech armor,its not so easy in multiplayer. Anyway my big question is why does my throw , which does 270 dam, nearly kill a basic assault trooper on bronze but my Tech Armor detonation,at 740dam, only get them down to about the same amount of health.

--- It seems to me that the damage listed for a throw is only the amount done when the throw impacts the target. The target then takes more impact damage when it lands, hits a wall, etc. If you watch your target carefully, you will notice its health bar decrease multiple times.

It is also possible that the Tech Armor damage decreases by a function of distance from the origin. This would mean Tech Armor only does 740 damage right on the user, whereas an enemy at the edge of the blast would take minimal damage.

When I play sentinel I try to stay out of melee range as much as possible, in a DM role (my personal wheelhouse). But I can say with certainty I once killed a Geth Rocket Trooper with an armor detonation because he kept running away and pissing me off. 70-80% shields and all of its health on silver. But then I was right up in its face. As I say, I don't like to get up close and personal, so I level it for defense instead of being a bruiser. It's pretty effective for sniping if you get flanked, but not against Pyros. Their flamethrowers have too long a range for that to work, so you'd have to run in to the fire to hit them. This is mostly because biotics like throw also inflict force (physics damage). The further a target slides along the floor the more damage it will take from throw. Corlist 14:33, April 22, 2012 (UTC)
