Other Notes

Because a lot of articles usually when merged, key word USUALLY, they get turned into a redirect to that article. So I am looking for some opinions on a template I just worked up. So take a look and offer some opinions. Lancer1289 19:17, July 12, 2010 (UTC)

Update: I have updated the template to where a reason can be provided. The tempalte call will be {{Redirect|(Name of Article)|Reason for the article being turned into a redirect}}. Most of the the info should be on the talk page while the a brief description should be used in the template. Lancer1289 02:04, July 13, 2010 (UTC)

I like the idea. There have been times when redirecting an article should have been the issue from the outset, but instead we waste time meandering from a deletion conversation. This solves the problem. -- Commdor (Talk) 23:41, July 12, 2010 (UTC)

The only thing that I think needs to be added to this is the ability to describe why the redirect is happening. Bastian964 01:29, July 13, 2010 (UTC)
That type of info should be on the talk page, but I can make a few changes for a brief descrption as well. Give me a few minutes. Lancer1289 01:55, July 13, 2010 (UTC)
It is done. Lancer1289 02:04, July 13, 2010 (UTC)

Another minor niggle... the redirect arrow picture might look good on a white background, but it really looks bad with the cream colored background that the tag has. Other than that, I agree. A redirect template would be nice for when that's what we really want to do. Dammej 06:08, July 13, 2010 (UTC)

The only thing I have against that is it would be inconsistnet with the rest of the templates, {{Merge}}, {{Delete}}, {{Split}}. That is the only reason I really think the background should stay becuase the rest of the article action type templates are that color. That way it isn't inconsistent with them. Lancer1289 14:23, July 13, 2010 (UTC)

I think he meant that you should change the arrow, not the background. The arrow itself does need a little changing to fit in with the other arrows anyway. Bastian964 16:44, July 13, 2010 (UTC)

I found another image and changed it, however I still would like Dammej to clarify what he ment. Did you men the background or the image itself? Lancer1289 16:57, July 13, 2010 (UTC)
Whoops, sorry. I sorta forgot about this, and apparently neglected to "follow" it. Yes, I was referring to the image. I think the one that's there now is ok. -- Dammej (talk) 17:18, July 22, 2010 (UTC)

Well it seems this has been decided as that was the last issue. Moving template into mainspace and we already have our first customer, Blasto. Lancer1289 19:31, July 22, 2010 (UTC)
