Does anyone know of any way around hacking doors or safes on the PC version?

Because I am unable to do it with the mouse. The nodes are too far away and the timer runs out before I can complete the hack. I either over shoot or am not fast enough. If it carries on I am going to need Anger Management classes to play the game.
