I think we need an article for Alpha Centauri. If you recall, CDN had a storyline about the discovery of a lost human colony on one of its planets. The article would summarize that storyline and include a few trivia notes as Alpha Centauri is a real location. This would certainly not be without precedent as we currently have articles for other things mentioned solely (or almost entirely) in CDN: raloi, Virtual Aliens, Turvess, and kirik. I have linked a sandbox with the beginnings of this article, mostly just trivia at this point. Please leave any comments about improving the article or if you think an article wouldn't be warranted.

all of the pointed articles have rather substantial CDN info in them. alpha centauri has more behind-the-scenes info than any in-universe one. aside from being the setting where the manswell expedition (and some aliens) was found there's literally nothing else. I disagree with that. I counted at least six CDN articles about Alpha Centauri/the Mansell expedition, twice that for the raloi/Turvess and one more than for the kirik. I don't think in-universe information will be a problem as the Alpha Centauri storyline includes the discovery by the first of the galaxy, the asari hostage, the story of the Mansell Expedition, a standoff with Alliance officials, and the aftermath. ok, i'll amend my previous thought after a little thinking. if the information can be safely integrated into other relevant articles (i can think of human or Systems Alliance offhand), there's little need for a separate alpha centauri article. if not, well. feel free. While there should certainly be a mention of it in one or both of those articles, leaving it at that would be like only mentioning Taetrus in the turian article, given how much there is to cover. TheUnknown285 (talk) 05:05, May 29, 2013 (UTC)

the CDN articles talk about the manswell expedition, not the place itself. perhaps it should be named "Manswell Expedition" or something as that is what the article covers, not the place. turvess is probably excusable since it's a race homeworld, taetrus is also excusable since it's a named planet with a fleshed-out history, alpha centauri would probably get more edits about irrelevant trivia down the line if the place is the focus of the article. You bring up a good point, but I think that's a risk we'll have to take. For one thing, the Manswell Expedition isn't even mentioned until the second article. Indeed, the storyline is titled "Lost Human Colony in Alpha Centauri," not something like "Manswell Expedition Located." Also, the storyline emphasizes that this is a colony with the words "colony" or "colonists" appearing in the title for all of the new stories. Indeed, one of my reasons for this project is so we could have a link in the "human words" section of the human article. I do think it's a good idea to redirect from Manswell Expedition, though. Plus, the problem with extraneous trivia is a problem we may face with any article that deals with a real-life place (e.g., Omega Nebula, Horsehead Nebula, Arcturus, and everything in the Sol System). If the article is published, I also suggest that it can be the next "featured article" on the main page. It would be far more interesting to put unknown article such as this than popular and well known page such as Indoctrination or Mars. Thoughts ? --DeldiRe 08:33, May 30, 2013 (UTC)

I can understand Temp's hesitations but after reading over the article as it stands I have to say that it seems to be very worthy of an article. Yes the Expedition is mentioned a lot, but the article basically provides a known history of the Colony. In short you have my vote. Garhdo (talk) 09:27, May 30, 2013 (UTC)

I'm with Temporaryeditor78, if we must have an article about this it should be titled "Manswell Expedition".
First, the fact that the term "Manswell Expedition" isn't mentioned until the second CDN report is irrelevant. You don't see the eponymous Skyfall until the last act of that James Bond film, but does that mean the title should be changed to something that appears in its first ten minutes?
Second, your draft and the info it's based on are predominately about the Manswell Expedition colony, not the Alpha Centauri system or even the planet in that system where the colony is located. We are given no details about the system's composition aside from this singular planet, and we are given no details about the planet itself aside from it being both habitable and inhabited by a primitive alien race. Alpha Centauri is merely the backdrop of that CDN storyline, not the focus, and the story would have worked whether it happened in Alpha Centauri or Ceti Alpha. The focus is the lost colony, the Manswell Expedition, its rediscovery, and the introduction of a people who have been isolated for over a century into a galaxy that has changed dramatically in their absence.
Bottom line, why should the title emphasize the star system when the content is all about the colony? If the title is changed, then I will change my vote to support. -- Commdor (Talk) 01:49, June 2, 2013 (UTC)
