Dr. Shu Qian

From Mass Effect Wiki

Dr. Shu Qian was an Alliance scientist who was researching artificial intelligence. He was project leader at the Sidon facility. According to Kahlee Sanders, Qian was working on a newly-discovered artifact that might even have pre-dated the Protheans, but the research changed him. Qian gradually became more irrational until he was obsessed with the work. Kahlee became suspicious and copied several of his files, then left Sidon just before it was attacked by the Blue Suns. Qian disappeared after the attack on Sidon and his whereabouts were unknown.

In fact, Qian was actually the traitor at Sidon who gave the Blue Suns access to the facility. Qian was working for the batarian Edan Had'dah, who had employed him to uncover the artifact's secrets. But the artifact affected Qian's mind until studying it became all he cared about and Had'dah began losing patience with the doctor. It was Qian's idea to capture Kahlee Sanders, realising that with his team dead, he had lost the help he needed to continue his research. Qian joined Had'dah at the eezo refinery on Camala once Kahlee had been captured, but the refinery was attacked by David Anderson and Saren Arterius. Qian had copied all his files to a flash drive - even when faced with Saren he was desperate to protect them. Saren asked Had'dah if Qian was still necessary to the project. Had'dah claimed Qian had become a liability and Saren killed Qian for his research.

It is likely that Qian was the first indoctrinated character to appear in the series.
