Corporal Ahmed O'Reilly was a marine stationed aboard the SSV Hastings under then-Lieutenant David Anderson. O'Reilly was a tech expert - and a specialist in handling and disarming explosives - who was assigned to Anderson's squad during the mission to Sidon. He tended to err on the side of caution, but took time to mentor the privates in the squad when necessary.

His name hints that he is descended from a branch of the Uí Raghaile clan which converted to Islam, although there is no indication that he follows this religion himself.
