Missing dad.

What do you, oh people of the extranet, think happened to Alc Ryder’s body after the first mission? I find it strange that there is no mention of what happens with his body. All I can tell is the kett didn’t get it. Otherwise they would have known about Sam earlier in the storyline.

Interesting idea. But his body was right next to Ryder's when both where found by Cora and the Evac team.... So just because we do not see any sort funeral scene, which is very sad and baaaaad writing, it doesn't mean there was non. There were several casualties during the Hyperion Scourge incident so most probably his remains will be in Hyperion's morgue.

But on the other hand, a few metres can be hard to cross when you are under fire.

Under such circumstances probably yes.

But was his body swept away or did he not just dropped down next to his child?

I know the lack of any further mentioning or detailed cuscene depicting the rescue/recovery gives way to speculations, but to be honest he did suffocated mere centimetres way of Junior and during the brief retrival scene there was not a single shot to be heard or seen.

Ugh, I could never understand why they couldn't just share the helmet until help arrived.

I know - I know. RyDad had to pass the Pathfinder job to RyJunior, but there were other possibilities more logical than Death by Stupidity.

You and pretty much everyone. At least me.

Edit. He was a highly skilled and trained elite soldier. Pick seals, german Kampfschwimmer or similar: all of them are profound in walking around a swimming pool underwater with lead (Pb) ballast to keep them down and holding their breath all the time for around 2 minutes. SAM could have helped in that. Actually a plastic bag over the broken helmet would have too.

So folks, whenever you walk around hazardous environments, don't throw away your breakfast bag!

Well, he was dishonorably discharged and obsessed with perfecting his illegal AI, so he might have let some of the more rigorously trained abilities slide, but really - How elite could he be if he couldn't do something simple/obvious to save his squadmate/kid?

Indeed! An excellent reminder to always carry out anything you carry into your hazardous environment!

And yet he could hit foes with a biotic truck, jump 10 meters high, electrocute by pointing a finger and set ablaze with the blink of an eye, thx to SAM. (Sarcasm)

Even his Kids recieved a 'basic' military education and they were calm enough under pressure while fixing the crack in the the helmet.

But let's not go further on this. The situation was presented quite unsatisfying, no matter how you look at it.

Maybe alternating the helmet wasn't feasible for some reason. I liked how he gave his life for his daughter like a father should.

I agree, Marolf. Not really anything else to say since it changes nothing.

Interesting points....though I didn't give any thought about what happened to Alec's body after his death. I do agree that there should have been a cut scene showing his funeral...either shortly after docking the Hyperion with the Nexus or after the defeat of the archon(would have been more ideal for Alec's funeral to be after the archon's defeat..on Meridian...the ryder twins, the crew of the tempest, the leaders of the Nexus, and others would be present for his funeral). Its likely that a cut scene showing his funeral would have been in the game if EA didn't push for the game's release...of course we will never know.
I think Alec's body was stored in a morgue on the Hyperion after leaving habit 7...it's unlikely that the evac team left it on habit 7, making it impossible for the kett to aquire it that way. The only way the kett could possibly get Alec's body is either by somehow finding it in space(if he was placed in a coffin...if the funeral was held on the Nexus or Hyperion and was jettisoned into space) or the kett managed to aquire it during their invasion of the Nexus. The most the kett would probably do with his body is experiment on it..dought they could bring him back to life.
